Seeing the Big Picture (Pt 1 of 4): The Trust Factor

Part 1 of a 4 part report:

“Seeing the Big Picture: Producing Affiliate Marketing Videos That Sell”

I know, I know…. you’ve heard it before, at conferences, in emails from gurus, and from your affiliate marketing colleagues: You MUST use video if you want to be successful selling online these days.

So, are you doing it? Are you making videos to increase your conversion rates, sell more product, and brand yourself?! And if you have made the leap, are your low-budget productions really as good as they can be?

Need Convincing?

If you are not yet persuaded as to how important it is to include videos in your online marketing efforts, then consider the following facts:

Captures more opt-ins

Increases time-on-page

Generates more feedback and comments

Converts more visitors into paying customers

Increases your SEO dramatically (when optimized correctly)

and much much more…

And we are not talking just about expensive, well-produced videos, either. Look at the quality of what even the gurus have on their squeeze pages, and you will see that simple, low-quality videos are still very effective. Videos produced by marketing master Frank Kern (masscontrolsite.com/blog) are about as basic as you can get, but they have helped make him very rich. According to Frank, the reason he uses video in his marketing is, “A: Selling more stuff, and B: Bonding with the list.”

Why are videos so effective for selling more stuff and bonding with your email list? Because, more than any other form of communication, videos create TRUST.

The Trust Factor

It is commonly understood among sales pros that people buy from those they know, like, and trust. This means that when it comes down to purchasing a product, especially in a competitive environment like affiliate marketing, final decisions are often based on relationships more than any other factor As even simple webcam videos allow you to establish a virtual face-to-face relationship with prospective buyers, online marketers who use video quickly gain a level of trust with prospects that text-only marketers can never approach. Alex Jeffreys (MarketingWithAlex.com), a highly successful internet marketer who also coaches newbies, firmly believes in the effectiveness of video. “I think video is important because it brings you to life and also people instantly know you through video — so people get to know, like, and trust you, which equals money.” According to Alex, he has never made an unsuccessful video, because video always helps.

Video is so much more powerful than text, or even audio recordings, because human interaction is not only based on either what you say or how you say it, but also relies heavily on how you look while making your presentation. Video Marketing Queen Maria Andros (MariaAndros.com) observes, “Video is one of the fastest ways to connect with your target audience and to build those relationships, and the reason that video is so powerful is because 90% of communication is non-verbal.” Facial expressions, hand gestures, body language, inflection and tone of voice, and many other factors are involved in human communication, and video can transmit pretty much all of them. Just allowing people to look into your eyes as you talk about yourself, your products, and your business, will naturally establish in seconds what thousands of words could never convey. Maria also points out that we have all been conditioned by broadcast television to consider anyone who appears on the screen as a celebrity, and so starring in your own videos affords you instant credibility as an expert beginning with the very first frame.
